Who would you like to ask about the past?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for February 18, 2008:
Jesus and Buddha come to mind initially - wouldn't it be amazing to actually ask each of them what they really said? Wouldn't it be great to know exactly what their particular fram of reference was for every parable or bit of wisdom? It is, of course, totally impossible for us, in the modern world, to truly know or understand what was really said originally - or what the message meant in the particular context of the time.
After all, many of the words that they used - or their context - are obselete in our times, but had significance and a totally different frame of reference for them.
Anyway, I think it would be so enlightening to actually transport myself back in time to see and talk to each of them...or any spiritual leader, actually.

Hi Tara,
Haven’t bumped into you in a while. always a pleasure. You and I were certainly thinking alike with this question.
It would be so interesting to discover how close to Jesus and Buddha’s truth, that we are honoring today. What an eye opener I expect.
Hi Dave!
I was just thinking about stopping by and saying hi to you - so this is a bit of nice synchronicity for my day!
I will go over and check out your blog after this - but thanks for stopping by - it is always a pleasure to bump into you on my journey!
Have a wonderful day today!
Much love,
Tara :o)
Hi Tara,
What delightful fun it would be to have the conversations that you purpose. I am in! Context always seems so important for both meaning and action. However, as time passes we have a new context and new meanings:)
Hello all and especially Tara…
Just meandering around Zaadznowgaian and catching up.
Great question/answer here I think. I like to imagine both the BIG guys would give us a new parable to decipher…
Hmmm… could it be slow down and LOVE.
Advice I can use daily!
In the meantime if you have time to listen here’s a great MN artist whose approached this topic. Peter Mayer – Birthday Party.
Another if you have time (I just love this guys music!) Yukon Sally.
Big Blessings all around!
David
Hi Terrill and David!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by - and for leaving a comment!
You're right, Terrill - context is always soooooo key to any meaningful conversation, or certainly the understanding of said conversation!
And David - I am with you - I think the message would be to slow down and simply love…nothing else really matters!
I will go check out those artists - I LOVE learning about new artists!!
Much love to both of you -
Tara :o)
