OMG! The Flow is a finalist for the Book of the Year Awards!

Today I have really big, really exciting news: The Flow: 40 Days to Total Transformation has been chosen as a finalist in ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year Awards!!!!

This is truly a dream come true for me!

Here's the official press release:

The Flow: 40 Days to Total Life Transformation, has been chosen as a finalist in the ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year Awards.

According to ForeWord Magazine, the Book of the Year Awards are designed to identify books from independent presses that "expand a reader's world, introduce a voice society needs to hear, offer practical knowledge where none existed before or simply entertain so compellingly that all distractions fall away as the reader turns the next page."

Nearly 1600 titles were entered for consideration in this year's Awards contest, and of these, 658 finalists in 61 categories were chosen. The Flow: 40 Days to Total Life Transformation has been selected as a finalist in the self help category, and, by being a finalist, is also up for the "Editor's Choice Prize for Best Non-Fiction."

As indicated by ForeWord Magazine, the awards process is conducted by a jury of their readers, librarians, and booksellers, and they select the titles based on "editorial excellence, professional production, originality of the narrative, author credentials relative to the book and the value the book adds to its genre."

"I am so honored to have my book chosen to be a finalist and to know how many people's lives have been changed for the better because of The Flow," says an obviously elated Tara Meyer-Robson. "Of course, I am also so thankful to people who tell me every day what The Flow has meant to them!"

Published in late September 2007, The Flow: 40 Days to Total Life Transformation is the first self help/personal growth book to completely personalize the process to each reader's needs and personal strengths through 6 enlightening Principles and two totally revolutionary tests. By taking these tests, each reader will not only be able to pinpoint any limiting beliefs that are causing negative patterns, problem habits, and even ill health, but they will also be able to design an easy-to-use action plan that will reprogram their minds to "tune in to" ease, happiness, and wellbeing at every moment of every day. The result is a totally transformed life - at every level.

All final awards will be announced at BookExpo America at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles on May 29.

What have you been taking for granted? (and is that so bad?)

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for March 11, 2008:

Ah, serendipity. I was just talking about this very subject with my dad last night! We were discussing the fact that one of my cousins seems to take things - and her very, very good life - for granted, when there are so many people who work so hard and have half as much as she does. I was saying that is a particular trait that I have a really difficult time with - I feel really challenged by people who seem to think that they are just entitled to things - when I said, "but in reality, I likely take things for granted, too." My dad spoke up, and in his characteristically spiritual way, said, "No, I really don't think you do. I really think you appreciate every moment."

Well, it was a ridiculously kind thing to say, and it struck right to my heart - after all, aren't we all hardest on ourselves? Don't we all think that we are not doing enough, loving enough, compassionate enough, or just enough?

My dad held a mirror up to me to let me see what he sees in me, and that was lovely.

In saying all of that, I still do believe that it is very, very hard to not take some aspects of your life - those that are seemingly constant - for granted. For instance, I open my eyes in the morning, and I see - I take it for granted that I have vision. Were I not to have visual sight one morning, I would be very aware of the fact that I had been taking that sense for granted - just expecting it to be there, as it always had been.

In thinking about that, I am not sure that taking some things for granted is such a bad thing; after all, if we create our reality in alignment with our expectations (to observe is to disturb) then when we take something for granted, it means that we EXPECT to have it there in our lives, and so it is.

Perhaps we should all take for granted that we are going to have healthy, wonderful, fulfilling lives - and so it would be.

That said, I think there is a real difference between that sense of taking something for granted - in that, you expect it to always be there - and not being appreciative or grateful for what you have on a moment-by-moment basis.

So, maybe we need to take things for granted - expect that they are in our lives to create that which we expect - but be completely grateful for it all, which also creates more of what we expect flowing into our lives.

Well, I did not mean to go off on this so much, but it really got me thinking...

Waves. Our bodies and minds translate those waves into "reality" - as in, that which we see, feel, taste, touch, hear, and smell. Flow with it all, everyone!
