What music has made the biggest difference in your life?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for February 04, 2009:
Elvis Presley. Okay - let me explain that one. My dad always loved Elvis, and I grew up dancing with my dad to his music, often while my dad did his best Presley impression. I particularly remember one evening when I was allowed to stay up to see Elvis's concert in Hawaii on tv, and I was in my little white nightgown, and my dad was dancing around the room with me. It still makes me smile - and I just feel connected to my dad whenever I hear Elvis now.
Recently, I have been loving Pink (she is so raw and exactly who she is - unapologetically exactly who she is, and that inspires me - I admire it!). Also, I truly love India. Arie - especially her first album, which I thought was one of the best albums in total I have ever heard.
Beyond that, I love hip hop. Always have. Turning some hip hop in in my car will always put me in a better mood, and being in a better mood means that I create a better day for myself and everyone around me - I that is a pretty good effect!!

My Dad was special too, I think i got my love of classical music from him, I remember beautiful music sometimes could move him to tears.
My Dad is still on my personal number one hero list. He is a very gentle warm man with a great laugh and eyes that twinkle when he is teasing you or really enjoying something. He only sings one song on a rare occasion on Christmas eve. Silent Night. He had to learn it for a pageant when he was young and it was the first time he had done anything in front of an audience without stuttering. Needless to say all of the pride and emotion would come through as he sang this song for my siblings and me. So whenever I hear Silent Night I think of him and I see this little boy of about 7 realizing that he can sing and that he doesn’t stutter when he is singing.
